Solar performance: April to June

As with last year, the summer of 2026 has proven to be one of the sunniest on record.

The last quarter (April - June) was already surpassing expectations for sunlight hours at the solar farm.  

The sites generated 6,489 MWh in the quarter, approximately 13.7% above P50 projections. This was primarily driven by high irradiance, which came in 12.6% above forecast.

We’re pleased to say that there were no generation-affecting faults of note in the period.

Community Impact

HECE foodbank support reaches those in need

As you may be aware, HECE has a three year funding agreement with Stratford-upon-Avon Foodbank. The overall funding package enabled the foodbank to move to new premises and operate a new mode of food distribution. This expands its reach in the community by opening satellite locations in addition to its main hub, allowing much-needed help to go to those who need it.

The food bank has submitted a grant monitoring report, covering the period of December 2025 to May 2026.

Across this period, the foodbank distributed 2,071 food parcels (1,414 to adults, 657 to children) via its Masons Road hub and across four satellite centres, with the Escape Arts Heritage Centre handling the largest share (947 parcels).

 Satellite sessions took place 105 times in total, giving residents access to seven partner agencies covering energy advice, welfare benefits, debt and health support, and more.

Act on Energy

Act on Energy has been working with HECE under a multi-year funding partnership.

Its newly published annual report covers the period December 2024 to November 2025, detailing how £35,000 from HECE's Community Fund helped 67 households across South Warwickshire, around two-thirds of them families, combining immediate relief such as fuel payment credits, prepayment meter vouchers and help with low-level energy debt, with longer-term measures like heated blankets and radiator reflector packs to cut consumption and lower bills.

A preview of newly approved community projects

Since our last update, we’ve got some exciting new projects that our Board of Directors have agreed to fund through our solar surplus.

The New Inn Community Pub in Norton Lindsey will receive £5,000 towards solar panels, helping the pub reduce its running costs while supporting its role as a hub for village life. Amid a backdrop of rural pub closures, the pub has been designated an Asset of Community Value and operates on a not-for-profit model.

First Harbury Scouts have been awarded £11,088 for a rooftop solar installation, giving the group a long-term reduction in energy costs.

Two grants will support running costs directly. Stratford Samaritans have been awarded £18,950 towards staffing costs, ensuring this essential listening service can continue to be there for people who need it. Arden Foodbank is set to receive £24,750, recognising the vital role the foodbank plays in supporting some of the most deprived communities in South Warwickshire.
